He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague (1968) and completed his doctoral studies at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (1974). He obtained his habilitation at the Brno University of Technology, defended his Doctor of Science (DrSc.) thesis at the Czech Technical University in Prague, and was appointed a professor in the field of structural theory.

Prof. Drdácký currently serves as the head of the Department of Heritage Science at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on the testing and conservation of historic materials, structures, and settlements.
